I am a psychotherapist located in Minneapolis, MN specializing in online couples therapy. I come to this work with a belief in people, in possibilities, and in the power of relationships. I work from the perspective that healing happens in a positive environment, and that relationships are sustained through love, laughter, presence, humanity, acceptance, and solidarity.
While people consult with me for a variety of reasons, I specialize in addressing concerns related to intimacy, communication, infidelity, sexuality, gender identity, and fostering healthy relationships. I believe personal experiences are embedded in social-cultural-political contexts, and I encourage exploration of gender-role socialization, power issues in relationships, and other factors in the environment that play an important role in shaping people’s identities, self-perceptions, choices, and behaviors. I strive to help people discover the patterns that are holding them back, and experiment with new ways of being. In this process, I attend to external and internalized dynamics of oppression to help clients find places of resistance, resilience and healing. My hope is that by exploring new skills, behaviors, and perspectives together, people can access and develop knowledge that will turn challenging situations and patterns into opportunities for growth. I do not believe in a “One-Size-Fits-All” approach to therapy or life. Thus, I employ an interactive style, grounded in collaboration with each person that comes to my office.
I am a certified Narrative therapist, certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and I am Currently participating in classes at the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University of Michigan. I am EMDR trained, have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couple’s therapy, and I have advanced training in Psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based therapies, and a range of practices related to art therapy and mind-body work. A good fit is essential in a therapeutic relationship, please contact me if you have any questions about how I practice or to determine if I would be a good fit for you.
ABOUT SEX THERAPY
Through working with couples I’ve developed a passion for working with gender and sexual minorities, people in alternative relationship models (non-monogamy/polyamory) and other relationship issues such as infidelity, mistrust and ineffective communication. This has also lead me to my current pursuit for certification in sex therapy. People frequently work with me because they want to make sure they are working with someone informed and open-minded when it comes to intimacy issues, issues of desire, performance, infidelity, problematic sexual behavior, trauma, and navigating non-traditional relationships, and dating concerns. I commonly work with individuals and relationships managing issues of Identity, gender exploration, body-image, major life transitions (such as gender disclosure, relationship changes), and trauma. I am LGBTQIA+ affirmative and respect diversity in sexual identity, relationships, sexual orientation, and sexual practices and lifestyles. I work to create an environment of radical inclusivity for clients of all genders, sexual orientations, races, cultures, faiths, sizes, and lifestyles.
